A little background first.


Back in 2022, I decided I wanted to build my dream home — fully custom and designed exactly the way I envisioned it.

Around that same time, new zoning regulations began allowing legal ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units).

While “mother-in-law suites” and similar concepts had existed for years, they were often informal setups that created potential liability and zoning concerns when rented out.


These updated regulations changed everything. They opened the door for legally designed multi-generational living spaces and income-producing opportunities on residentially zoned properties.

In many cases, homeowners can now build homes with attached or detached ADU configurations that create tremendous flexibility and long-term investment potential.

As life evolved and family priorities shifted — including moving my mother back north — I ultimately decided to sell the original lot along with its professionally designed house plans.
